Kobeshimi [小べしみ] Noh Mask

小癋見(こべしみ / Kobeshimi) is a kishin—a fierce demon-god of the Noh stage, the kind of underworld authority that doesn’t need volume. His power is restraint: a face locked into “Un,” the closed breath of A-un, as if judgment is already decided and only waiting to be delivered.

When Kobeshimi appears, the air tightens—human emotion reduced to its limit, and something older, colder, and absolute steps forward.

The Noh kishin mask 小癋見(こべしみ / Kobeshimi) concentrates the authority of a hell deity into a single controlled expression: the mouth tightly closed in silent judgment, the gaze sharpened by gold metal eyes. Carved in wood in Showa–Heisei Japan and signed in traditional seal script by an unidentified artisan, it brings the demon-god of underworld judgment into a focused, collectible form.

Within the Noh repertoire, the Kobeshimi Noh mask is used for demon-gods such as Emma-daio, where restrained fury and the possibility of release coexist. Here that role is translated into a compact, life-sized mask whose weight, carving and metal eyes make it suitable for close study or quiet display in a dedicated corner of a room or collection.
